Simple Stovetop Granola

Granola can be pricey! Especially if you don't want to sugar-laden varieties that are equivalent to children's breakfast cereal for adults.

What can we do about it? Well, try making your own! I'm always intimidated to make homemade granola on a baking pan in the oven, so when I heard you can make it on the stovetop.... I wish I could insert the mind-blown emoji here.

You really only need a few items.

#1 Some form of oats

#2 Some form of nut or seed butter

#3 Some type of sweetener

#4 Some type of nuts, seeds, dried fruit, or other fillers (optional)

#5 A frying pan!

Throw it all in saute pan and let it cook to a crisp. A tip I realized while cooking it was to let the bottom layer crisp up for a few minutes, then stir, then let it sit again for 1-2 minutes.

You can store it in some Tupperware, a mason jar, or a gallon-sized bag in the freezer.

What's the best way to use granola?

  • Serve over a smoothie bowl

  • Serve in a tofu yogurt parfait

  • Eat as cereal with plant-milk

  • Eat it plain (I couldn't stop doing this after I made it)

Give it a try!
